Wir haben Entwickler Wargaming.net zu Ihrem neuen Titel „Order of War: Challenge“ befragt. Lesen Sie unser ausführliches Interview dazu: GXP:State your name, position and role on the project.Hi! Pavel Ananyev from Wargaming.net is here. I’m the lead game designer on Order of War: Challenge so I normally deal with a wide scope of gameplay-related activities, from balancing units and maps to working on mission structure. GXP:Your previous project “Order of War” was released about half a year ago. What feedback do you get from players?Well, Order of War was our first entry into the real-time strategy genre and it was a rather successful one, I should say. As you know, people’s tastes differ. Some players found Order of War too action-focused with little attention paid to base-building or resource-management. Some missed the “fog of war” option. But the majority felt rather positive about Order of War gameplay and the opportunity to take part in battles from the General-like perspective. GXP:Can you tell us something about the new technical features about this game? Our priority target was to increase Order of War: Challenge stability and optimize the game’s performance. We switched to using a dedicated server that enabled us to solve certain connection problems and fight against cheaters more effectively. Some new technical features were added to provide enhanced multiplayer experience e.g. Automatch option will let the player easily pick up the most appropriate game room out of all battles available. New Leaderboard feature that provides full statistics on players’ games, achievements and ranks will let the player track his progress and the progress of his friends/foes. For those in love with spectacular 3D stereo performances we added support for Nvidia 3D Stereo – now you can enjoy epic WWII clashes as if you are in the thick of events. Some minor (but still important) perks like Voice Chat or Active Pause function were added as well. Ohh… I almost missed a rather important detail… We included “fog of war” as a possible option for Challenge as it definitely adds a new strategic layer to gameplay. Now, when enemy units are hidden from you - well-planned reconnaissance actions become the key to success. Prior to launching any attack make sure your target is not supported with heavy artillery that will easily smash the spearhead of your troops. All in all we hope that “fog of war” will increase replay value of the game and bring in additional strategic depth. |
